Fifty-eight public sector practitioners from Southeast Europe participated in the Kokkalis Program’s 2010 executive education seminar Leading, Innovating, and Negotiating: Critical Strategies for Public Sector Executives (LIN), held in Athens, Greece on 31 May-3 June, 2010. The course included simulations and instruction on developing strategic and analytical negotiation skills and lectures on leadership and innovation in modern government by Brian Mandell and Elaine Kamarck, lecturers in public policy at HKS. The program also included a keynote address by HKS Dean David T. Ellwood, as well as guest lectures on the Greek economic crisis by Richard Parker, HKS lecturer in public policy and advisor to Greek PM George Papandreou, and by Athens University of Economics and Business Professor George Pagoulatos. The participants, including deputy ministers, chief advisors and diplomats, represented twelve countries and a wide spectrum of organizations at the international, state and local government levels, as well as academia and the non-governmental sector.
