Center of the Earth is a 25,000 sq.m. urban park located six kilometers from Athens. OE's headquarters for environmental education, Center of the Earth includes a seasonal organic vegetable garden, a biodiversity garden, an olive grove, a museum of historical farming equipment, an organic winery that uses grapes grown on-site, and several buildings and outdoor spaces for seminars, debates, and other activities. Center of the Earth has hosted over 100,000 school children and adults since 2010. Among other activities, visitors may attend free courses in sustainable development, which raise awareness about and promote urban attitudes and practices that ameliorate environmental degradation.
It is worth noting that the environmental education center model, with its biodiversity garden, has won the first prize in the context of the International Nature Conservation Program #Nature4All. Specifically, in September 2016, during the World Conference in Hawaii, it was named by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as the world's best human-nature-initiative initiative, among 107 candidates from 42 countries.
